Hi there, I'm currently running my second X-Trail dCi SVE having inadvisedly sold my first thinking I needed a "full blown" off-roader replacing it with a 12,000 mile top of the range Discovery TD5. No power, very thirsty, lousy steering lock and no fun. Replaced by my current SVE which I have owned for three years and which today passed 84,000 miles and its MOT without any drama or advisories.
Hi Streetbike welcome to the forum, given that you are on your second dci perhaps you can enlighten us as to wether you have had any of the dreaded turbo/intercooler problems that are much reported.
cheers john
Thanks for the welcome chaps and in answer to posbyjohn's question about turbo problems, I am happy to say (touching wood) that I haven't experienced any problems. I was concerned when I bought my first X-Trail that there was oily slime from the turbo area at the 6000 mile point but no adverse consequences. Same leakage on my current X-Trail but no worse at 84000 miles than at 40000 miles. I just wipe the pipe at periodic intervals and degrease and high pressure hose the engiine bay from time to time without spraying directly onto sensitive electric areas etc. Delighted with reliability, handling, no corrosion etc and the MOT guy said to me she's good for another 150,000 miles. Just as well being a pensioner! Consistant 35+ MPG and no oil used between service intervals however I drive.
