I believe there are 2 different protocols for steering wheel controls. Can-BUS and some simpler analog protocol which name I cant remember. X-trail uses the latter. You must check with HU manual which protocols are supported. I believe most Chinese units (X-trons etc) are supporting Nissan steering ...

they are complete unit.
Hub with bearing and ABS ring. Cost about 100 EUR/corner. As bearings go bad about 100 000 miles anyway, worth considering.

i did it twice without removing window. Each winter the rod popped out so finally I made some modification which prevents it pop out when its cold. No problems since then.
