Unbolt door inner metal skin, there are some rubber sealed cables through it so you cant remove it but you can pull it a little loose. Undo outer linkage (pop the rod out too). Undo lock mechanism from door. Now it (lock mechanism) can be taken more lower so you can see and understand which cable is... |

I believe there are 2 different protocols for steering wheel controls. Can-BUS and some simpler analog protocol which name I cant remember. X-trail uses the latter. You must check with HU manual which protocols are supported. I believe most Chinese units (X-trons etc) are supporting Nissan steering ... |

they are complete unit. Hub with bearing and ABS ring. Cost about 100 EUR/corner. As bearings go bad about 100 000 miles anyway, worth considering. |

i did it twice without removing window. Each winter the rod popped out so finally I made some modification which prevents it pop out when its cold. No problems since then. |
