Hello people Finally got round to whipping off the upper chain cover and look and behold the tensioner is sticking out 15 to 20mm so looks like a stretched chain. Looking at my options now so either get rid of it or repair? The car is in good order apart from the cam chain, how much is this normally...

Hello Eoin again That's twice now that I've posted in the wrong section whoops. Anyway the bulbs missing were illumination ones, so I decided to strip the speedo pod down anyway and some nice person had stuck a piece of black tape over the engine light, I guess either to sell it on or get it through...

And so the saga continues with the mysterious lack of engine trouble MIL lamp not lighting up. Took the speedo pod off and low and behold two lamps removed completely behind the MIL light area. So swapped a couple of known good ones tested with my meter, put back together but still no MIL light with...

Hello, further to my ongoing issues with my recently purchased xtrail, could someone confirm if the MIL check light should illuminate with ignition on and engine not started? I am suspicious that the lamp has been removed to hide something, mine does not illuminate at all which makes idle relearn a ...

Little update, found time to remove throttle body, drilled out rivets cleaned up centre sprocket shaft, seemed OK. Refitted cover with new rivets, cleaned throttle body as best I could refitted and now have high idle speed as well as poor performance. Tried the reset procedure but no joy. Next check...

Thanks for the reply Eoin I will take the throttle body off to clean it and check the gears etc in the week. The pulsing sensation is under acceleration as if the engine is being held back, just doesn't rev cleanly and smoothly under load. Looks like it probably has the self destructive cat as well,...

Further to my post in the wrong section I have now changed plugs, air filter, oil, oil filter but the car is still not quite right. It starts and idles fine but feels hesitant, and a bit gutless for a 2.5 litre engine, seems to pulse under acceleration, cruises OK once up to speed. Considering the t...

Recently joined the forum, bought a 03 2.5 sve which is quite different to the other vehicles we have. Wife drives a 62 plate swift sport which is great to drive and pretty good on fuel, my company vehicle is a diesel navara, however my other transport is a triumph daytona triple and a subtle but mo...
