If there is any way you can spin the armature, you could probably improve it with some emery tape. I believe the copper segments to be solid copper. You could probably get away with just brushes.

If you can take the brush plate off and take a picture of the end of the comm. I will be able to tell you if it can be repaired. I've seen much worse.

Brush holders with brushes are in stock at Autodoc for less than £7.00 plus delivery. I've bought from them several times, but takes a week or two to arrive. Can the commutator not be lathed?

You will probably find it more economical to buy an aftermarket starter motor. You could try a second hand starter and hope the commutator is ok. You could turn your commutator down in a lathe and undercut the insulation. The brushes are usually supplied as an assembly with the mounting plate, altho...

Having looked at pictures of the X trail door lock mechanism, I am confident that the mechanical elements that possibly require lubrication are isolated from the electrical elements. I would personally clean well with penetrating oil, then spray with graphite lock spray.

Hi Chris.

There is a tiny switch to select left or right mirror, just above the open / close switch. If this is in the middle, neither mirror will adjust. Have a look to see if this is your issue.

Exactly as Jor said. Here's a picture of the heater blower removed, which should help you to locate the resistor.
