On May 21st I PtExed my beloved 2.5 petrol 2003 T30 for £1k and bought a 2008 diesel 2.0 dci with 136k. This was from a car dealer in Burton upon trent - not a private purchase. for £2500 + part ex.

On the MOT it had a minor for corrosion on rear subframe and corrosion on front disc (brakes work well). However i have had a few issues in the 10 wks.

1. Passenger side door lock buzzes when locking and sometimes will not unlock.
2. Aircon seal needs replacing - checked by an local specialist.
3. Had a lower arm done for the MOT and they did not do the tracking resulting i will need 2 from tyres now.

Did a oil change on monday and the crash bar (absorber-energy, front bumber) at the front is really corroded and has holes a garage has looked at this and says it need replacing.

The first lot are not to bad but the cost will all add up but i am worried about the corrosion.

So what would you do? Suck it up and pay or would you get the dealer involved? I am a bit hesitant as its about an hours drive from me and i need a car.

What was the warranty from the dealer you bought it from?

Did you have an independent appraisal when you bought it?

Three months not worth the paper it written on 3rd party - but from a dealer you have 6 months from the date of purchase according to the gov site. ****** cars

It's in the detail as to what is covered, I don't imagine corrosion on a 14y yr old car is.
Is the AC covered by the dealer warranty?
Unfortunately you're probably a buyer beware, suck it up situation...

See the following link re the buzzing noise. That's usually an easy fix. If it's been buzzing for a while may explain why it sometimes doesn't unlock.

No way is that the result of "minor corrosion" reported in the May MoT. Time to go back to the dealer and, if necessary threaten to report the MoT station to VOSA. It's correct that an MoT is only really valid at time of issue but that would take a lot longer than 10 weeks to get to that state from "minor corrosion", especially over a dry summer.

Get worse - this is the front crash bar (energy absorbing bar) that the bumper attaches to. There is nothing there but rust!

THe MOT garage is picking it up today to have a look. The dealer is being a right **** "wear and tear mate - you should have noticed".

No, I have a 57 plate T31 with100k on the clock. Last MoT the tester noted how clean it was underneath.
