Hi guys,
So now that I have my X-Trail (06 Columbia)
There are a few mods I want to do....

Has any here installed a dual battery system, I've noticed a few posts about it on the aussie forum, but just wondered if anyone had bought parts to do it in the UK etc

Also on the list would be...

Install a reversing camera, I have a Panasonic flip out DVD player that is capable, just need to decide on what camera to go for, the following looks like a neat option

I want to do something with the under boot storage to try and maximise the space, get rid of some of the foam, and reinforce it some other way.

Opinions/advice would be very welcome!

A few years back I was considering a dual system for a Recovery winch, but in the end I settled for a turfer as I got stuck once off road and had to get the farmer to pull me out, up to axles in mud. :lol:
I have some info on the battery dual systems if you want me to I can upload here, it's d.i.y fitting instructions.

I'm not adding a winch or anything, I'ts just a few times i ran my Honda Hrv battery flat a few times, while at the beach waiting for waves or up the hill waiting on snow! and i would also like to install a battery invertor, and i just dont want to rn the battery flat!

Hi Andrew,
It's not possible on the diesel as there isn't enough room in the engine bay the only thing you can do is set-up one from the luggage bay. There's a kit called National Luna Portable Power Pack that would do the job you want to do, but it's a bit pricey .
If decide to do it from the luggage bay then make sure you run your cables in some (Flexible Conduit) because so many vehicle fires are caused by wires that have been damaged on installation or get chaffed in tight corners. There's a company called APB TRADING LTD selling the kit if you search around you may find somebody cheaper. :thumbs:

I had similar problems, with camping trips. Got a 'Xantrex XPower Powerpack 400 Plus'. If you can find a UK one it has a 12v cigarette and 240v socket on it, so great running stuff straight off it.
Has leads to jump a car (have used it to start my dads big deisel van). Can be charged before you leave or charged in transit via the cigarette socket to socket conector.
Not huge wattage, but really does a great job for camping. also has a built in compressor which i use mainly for the motorbikes.
Ensure you get the UK version though as most are US and have a 110v socket to go with the 12v socket.
Be interested to see what other alternatives you come up with though.
