im new to xtrails but I must say its turning into a love thing albeit a few minor issues on my 2006 Columbia 2.2 dci.
Most have been sorted with a major service with new filters and 5w30 oil but I still have a knocking sound from the engine from a cold start.
the noise is much more prominent under acceleration or load and sounds like a fairly loud ticking / knocking however once the engine is completely warm ( after about 5 miles ) does almost completely subside to a more normal diesel engine sound with the temperature gauge just under half way.
The idle of the engine is smooth and fairly normal sounding / quiet although improves slightly when warm,it has plenty of torque through the gears so no power loss whatsoever or turbo problems :thumbs:
The vehicle has covered 120,000 miles and has a good service history with 10 stamps in the book.
any ideas or thoughts people of is this a normal characteristic for a 12year old diesel xtrail with 120k on the clock
is there anything simple I should check clean or do to remedy as it is quite annoying!
