Evening all, we have a problem with our 02 x-trail sport 2.0 sport petrol. The engine management light comes on from time to time and the local garage has checked the diagnostics. They have concluded that the exhaust manifold catalyst has failed. To repair will requires a new one from nissan at a total cost of £2.5K

It surely cant be this much to replace can it? Ive yet to contact our local nissan dealer but thought i would try the online forums first.

If I was you I'd get a few quotes for you to supply the CATALYTIC CONVERTER and ask for a fitting price if you can't do it yourself, but don't go to the main dealer they'll have your trousers down :mrgreen:

Thanks for the link, i cant have searched ebay very well

Fitting the manifold shouldnt be a problem, ive done engine swaps and various bits on older performance fords in the past. Saves me a trip to nissan and kind of suggests the original garage were taking the mick a bit! Dont think they will be doing the MOT on it now. There are a few 4x4 specialists that it will be going to from now on.

i had a quote on new nissan cat and it was £700 or £400 for a pattern one
