My 2003 113bhp X-Trail which has run faultlessly for 87000mi has suddenly developed a serious missfire. Replacing the fuel filter did not cure the problem. Nissan repair people say they can't check the injectors or the rail pressure and now say its the fuel pump. A rebuilt one is GBP590. a new one is 1950!. Both require an additional GBP 320 to remove/refit.
Has anyone had these problems, what was the solution. (Trade in value, when working, is ca GBP4900)

Good news! It was the EGR valve - they cleaned it out and it seems OK. Cost £195+VAT for labour - but there was a lot of diagnostic time before they hit on it.

 Glad you got it sorted out at independent garage, as I've found in the past that Nissan isn't the first place I'd take my vehicle for a diagnosis.
