Hi guys,just bought a 2002 se+ petrol for work.
I didn't notice when viewing the car thar the guy must have used the key to open.
It opens all doors on the key but fobs not working on both keys supplied.
I've changed batteries and also tried the ignition on 6 times which did work in terms of indicators flashing to say its in programming mode but couldn't get the next bit to register.
Is there anything else I can try.
Cheers.

Indicator double flash
Press and hold lock
Press unlock 3 times.
Something like that.
No beeping with door opened.

You may not have a pdf reader app installed on your phone to open the document.
There are different procedures for the T30 and the T31 so make sure you use the procedure in the document I linked above as it is the tested method for T30 Xtrails.

Also as mentioned, make sure you get a warning chime if you have your door open with the key in the ignition otherwise if it is disabled by disconnecting the below connector in the steering column the method for reprogramming the fob will not work.
Here is the detail on checking if the key warning chime connector is connected

So annoying that my phone won't let me download that pdf even when I Google it separately.
I visited Australia xtrail site and found thread about cutting wires but couldn't see the pdf.

OK so you need to visit both links from a COMPUTER which can view a pdf file, firstly making sure the connector for the door chime is connected and then follow the instructions for the reprogramming.

So that other method of putting key in and out 6 times doesn't make hazards flash twice but turning 6 times in 10 secs does.
But tried programming key many times without success.

Yes I did it!
I had 2 keys so tried my luck with that and got it to work after about 5 attempts.
5 attempts within the 1st 2minute program time.
Am I right in thinking that I need to do both keys within the same 2min slot?
So if I tried now with 2nd key it would nullify the one I already did.?
Cheers.
Door bong is back.ha ha

The plot thickens....only driver door unlocks on open.rest stay locked.
Weirdly if I press unlock 3 times all doors unlock but car makes long beep for around 20secs as if something is not shut properly but then goes off and stays locked.
I'm happy to leave as is as long as no flattery battery etc In the morning.

When you ask about the second key do you mean the second remote button fob or the actual second ignition key ?
As far as I know the keys themselves cannot be programmed with this method and only a dealer or locksmith can do it.

For programming multiple remote button fobs you should just have to have them both in the car with you at the same time when you do the procedure and the codes will be written to both.
