Hi i have a 2009 xtrail sport exp extreme auto,we have owned for year now and finding we have never got more than 30mpg from it even on a drives to south of france jsut wondering if this is normal or if any one has any tips on how to get better.Thanks

mines a 57 plate auto,150bhp, ive averaged 32.3 mpg, over the last 850 miles ,thats according to the trip read out, mainly A roads,and a bit of town work

mines a 58 plate, diesel manual,150bhp, I have averaged 43.4 mpg since the beginning of Oct, about 2500 miles.

My T31 171 bhp diesel, has averaged 33.43 mpg over the approx 15k miles that I have had it. That is by measuring every litre put into the tank since I bought it as a one year old, and using the mileometer.

39 long journies, low 30s arround town, 26 to 28 towing my 1370kg caravan, about 5k miles towing.

My 58 plate averages 38 to 39 mpg on typical extra urban use. ie. Mixed speeds but mostly open roads with speeds up 60 mph and some 30/40 limit mileage. My Volvo S60 D5, 2 years back, used to average 43/44 mpg with the same driving conditions. The extra weight and bigger frontage of the XT probably explain the difference. I will shortly be changing to the new shape XT and hope to see quite an improvement in mpg as the Combined consumption figure changes from 38.2 to 44.1 so I hope to get 44/45 mpg for the same driving conditions.
