So my Nissan xtrail just died on me.

Took it to the mechanics and the diagnostics report mentioned errors on the mass airflow, CAM, and Crank shaft sensors. I replaced all of them but still no start.

Then noticed there's a continuous ticking/ clicking sound coming from the rear side of the engine when heating.

Does anyone know what the issue could be or where the sound is coming from?

Also it seems the diesel being injected when heating isn't at the right pressure .... according to the mechanic.

Thanks

Cam and crank sensor faults also guide us to the worn/stretched timing chains.
It must confirmed with a scope, compare the signals. A good time is 2ms. Above that the crank and cam are out of sync and sensor fault is displayed.
The 2.2 has 2 chains, lower and upper.
Usually the upper get more stress and wears quicker. I have heard from one owner that he replaced only the upper chain and it is ok. Job was cheaper too.
The risk is that the tenioners and guides will get older and more brittle.
It is a big job to get both chains changed, becsuse the oil pan and sump has to come off to remove the lower chain cover.
I fully understand why people opt for the upper chain.

Ok thanks. So this is what's causing the ticking sound or this is what's causing the crank with no start ?

Ok thanks I'll ask the mechanic to try and let you know. Thanks a lot

I am assuming that after this we would have to run another diagnostic to clear the new errors?

After starting in fail safe mode?
