I wonder if the fact you were on a left curve meant the beam from the speed gun was distorted by the size of the truck. Not ridiculous: there was a famous case many years ago where a guy caught for speeding in Newport, Gwent proved that ray-scatter in the vicinity of his vehicle corrupted the reading of the speed meter sufficiently for there to be an element of doubt and thereby a not-guilty finding at court. The police fought that one tooth and nail- but lost!
