Hi again

Not sure where to put this one so here it is.

I am looking to service the girl (Xtrail that is  ) and not 100% sure on what oil to get. I read somewhere that it is 0W30 but when I went to order my parts there comp through my reg stated to get 10w40.

Big price difference aswell - 0w30 - £33 +VAT 10w40 - £10 +VAT

Thanks guys

Think dealers use Castrol 10w40, in a white bottle, semi synthetic. I had put Castrol Magnatec 5w-30 in on a DIY oil change, but this was before the turbo got changed so dont know if that is a good thing or not!

Hi

I see yours is a petrol engine.

I'd consult your handbook. 2002 model sounds to me as if 10w40 would be o.k. but 5w30 better.

But I'm not an oil specialist.

Best to consult Castrol to be honest. Try their website.

Right! I just had a look on the Halfrauds website and they also have a Reg number checker and they recommend 10w-40, typical just to throw in more confusion!

I think I will just go with the 10w-40 option and see what happens.

Be a bit cautious of the halfords site and store. I went to get a new bulb for my rear stop/tail light. used the guide instore to pick my model and year got home and found i had a different connector. so had to take it back. same with the oil filter they said my car had a drop in element when in fact it was a standard canister type. I think their data sheets dont cover the facelift series 2 variants properly. I think yours is 2002 model from your info, so it may be ok. Just thought I had better let you know.
