Hi all,

I have been reading all the posts on the common intercooler and turbo issues but still cannot fathom where the fault lies.
I have a 2004 2.2 tdi with oil leaking out over the front of the engine. No loss of power but while climbing a hill, I got smoke coming off the engine and thought it was an air-con fault as I had just turned it on. I guess oil was dripping on the manifold.
A garage has told me it's the turbo on it's way out because there is oil in the inlet pipe on the front. From what I have read on this forum it's sound like an intercooler issue.
Which one is it???? Can I tell from removing the intercooler ???? help!

Hi

I do believe this oil bypassing the Turbo bearings - mine stopped when I replaced Turbo.

Most likely means your Turbos living on borrowed time.

And I have still a leaking Intercooler - I know this because I did not replace it opted for a new turbo, it must be leaking a slight amount of air (insignificant) - but key thing is there is still NO oil coming out - 100% proof must be turbo bearings that causes this.
