When towing should the rear parking sensors automatically get switched off?

Had a tow bar fitted recently (genuine Nissan) and the sensors stay on even with the trailer lights plugged in.

I know can turn off with a switch under the steering wheel but that turns the front ones off too.

I know can turn off with a switch under the steering wheel but that turns the front ones off too.

I thought they should but have no evidence to support that; my setup works in the same way. It's a bit inconvenient.
