I have just purchased a 57 Plate X Trail Adventura Explorer. I pick it up yesterday but today there is a horrble squeaking noise coming from the wheels all the time but its particularly bad when i brake. Any one got any ideas or experinced this themselves. i am taking it back to the garage tomorrow but wondered if any one had any thoughts

Have been problems with sticking calipers,can cause pad to twist.Think if pads are worn audible sign is high pitched squeal,which can happen if pad being pushed at an angle,but thought this silenced when brakes applied?Or could be car has been sitting in garage yard during snow and discs have rusted,if so should wear off after a bit.

na mine are jus tthe pads, anyone got a part number i better get some shims

The shims are on the car when new but most after market pads dont have them so you will need to reuse the old ones ...having said that most pads dont need them.
