Dear all, We've been delighted with our X-Trail since buying it at 20k. It has now done 77k and we do a lot of caravan towing and we think the suspension is getting softer than it used to be. Our garage suggested we could get tougher springs fitted does anyone have any views on this or suggestions on suppliers if it is worth doing? many thanks...

Hi

I won't pretend to know much about it but tougher springs might need tougher shock absorbers.

There are specialist suspension providers on line. Try a google.

Don't know if you are still looking as this post is quite old now, but KONI used to make uprated shock absorbers specifically for car used for towing.

Might be worth a look?

I know this post is old but I had a similar issue, I fitted spring assisters from Towsure (basically large lump of rubber you fit in the spring), from memory relatively cheap and works a treat, now level whilst towing.
