Sorry to highjack your thread but whilst on the subject of tailgates is it possible to raise it higher when opened, eg fitting different struts, as I keep bumping my head on my 03 model. :roll:

I believe the tailgate does raise higher from the 04 model onwards, I think Nissan forgot us Europeans are generally taller than the people from their homeland when first designing the X-Trail, there were a few complaints from Brits with bruised bonces!pubcrawler said:

I'm 6'7" but have developed an auto-response to duck under pretty much everything. If anything the tailgate is better, as it's eye level for me, so never come close to banging my head off it.
