My XT is really belty sounding when it is cold. How do I tighten the belt to stop this?

mine is as well, 55 plate
have done a bit of reading on it and it looks like they have an automatic tensioner on them.
so i'm looking at changing the belt on mine

I have just spoken to Nissan and they tell me that you can tighten the belt manually. Does anyone know how this is done?

Just loosen the attachment bolts to the alternator. Use an appropriate bar and press alternator up,tighten all loosened bolts.

does anyone know the torque setting for re tightening said bolts
as i need to change both my drive belts
