X Trail, 2002, 2.5 litre petrol, automatic transmission, in Kenya. Can anyone tell me why, after 2-3 hours driving in hot conditions (eg slow stop-start traffic), the automatic gearbox stops doing its automatic change, and suddenly revs high, with little power to the wheels. Revving high just get you home. Next morning, all cool, it works fine? Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Have you checked your gearbox fluid level?

Thanks, the gearbox fluid levels are absolutely fine, measured both hot and cold (engine running). Any ideas welcome!
