Hi

Its. sunday morning and it will be raining by 1300. Can anyone get me started on how to remove the interanl door panel so I can expose the door handle.

I have looked all over the net and can't find the answer anywhere.

:frown:

Phil

Thanks very much Umbongo that was really helpful. I hope I can return the favour soon.

I have been able to confirm that the plastic door surround has broken clip and the dealership wants £93 + one hours labour to put it right. Thats circa £150 for a bit of plastic unless anyone has any ideas???

Has anyone ever fitted a replacement external door handle. I couldn't work out how I was going to remove one of the retaining screws without some specialist tool.

I have seen some replacement handles here; http://www.australianxtrail.com.au/Shop ... andles.htm They look pretty good to me. I only need to replace one but if I do it myself I can do them all for only a little bit more than the price of one from Nissan dealership.

Phil, these kits only stick to your original handles with high impact adhesive tape so you will still have the problem of the door handle surround being loose. What you need is to try and get one from a scrap yard or try ebay. What screw are you talking about having to use some kind of specialist tool.........................also what door handle are you having trouble with?

Hi Again

The door handle is the o/s rear passanger external door handle surround. On inspection (after your help) this morning, I can see that the the plastic is formed in a way to create a retaining clip to hold the plastic in the opening for the door handle. This has broken and a gap is left between the door skin and plastic trim that water can seep down.

In addition, there is one screw that hold the handle and surround in place that is easily accessible. It looks like there is another one that is not very easy to access. I was wondering if I needed a special tool?

I am looking around ebay and other places to try and save on the quotes I previously posted.

Finally, I thought the handles I posted the link to were actual handles and not the widely available covers.

Phil

Yes they're the handles and not covers, my apologies for not looking properly

Just wondering if you managed to sort your door handles, and how you went about it in the end.

I find myself in a similar position, having foolishly pulled too hard on the rear door to open it when it was iced shut, with the result the door handle came off in my hand ;-(

Best price I've found from a breakers yard is £47.

I also found the following on Ebay, I thought this was a bargain until I saw the postage!
