I am thinking about changing the front shockers shortly but cant decided which make to go for, have been looking at KYB and meyle which I can get for a decent price or is it really worth paying double the price and going for bilstein?

Depends what you're looking for really. I replaced ours some years ago with Monroes. They've lasted OK. Haven't leaked. Bit of a soggy ride, but the Exy was never going to be a Lotus anyway! I've had KYB springs before and they've been OK but sagged after a while (not on an Exy though). KYB seem to be original equipment suppliers to Peugeot on some models. Sachs are also worth a look. Bilsteins are generally excellent but how much longer were you thinking of keeping the car?

If my last car is anything to go by a while, had my 306Td for 10 years, had the x trail for 4 years and it has gone through each mot with no problems, I do like the car so will more than likely be a a keeper for a while, I know I can never make it handle like a sports car but just wanted to tighten it up a bit,its starting to get a bit loose.
I replaced the rear shockers last year with monroe and they have done the job but nothing amazing I did notice when I took the old ones off they had a sticker on them which made me think they could have been the originals and the fronts have the same stickers on them so if they are they have lasted well with 102000 miles on them and being 13 years old.

If you want to firm up the ride a bit then replace the arb bushed with poly ones. Worked a treat on mine

I have replaced them already when I first got the car but they are knocking again so I will replace them with psb ones this time as well as the drop links with meylen hd ones,I also have some kyb top rubber mounts and new bearing so thought if I have to strip them down it would be a good time to replace
