Hello. Our car has a 5" aerial that may or may not be original. I unscrewed it woth a view to swapping it but found the thread recessed in the rubber aerial, meaning all the stock 5mm screw in types aren't a straight swap.
Does anyone know of a long aerial that will fit?
Ta
Karl

Hi Karl - most universal aerials will have fitments which allow you to fit the aerial to either a recess in the aerial or with the recess in the vehicle. Here's one I found, and it's just a suggestion!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Ster ... sal+aerial

Hope this helps

Cheers

Yup, that's the type I keep seeing and I don't think they'll work. You can screw in an adaptor to give you a 5mmm or 6mm male thread, but its proud of the end of the aerial (or you could leave it out and have 6mm female). What's needed is a 5mm male that's shrouded or sub flush. Or you'd need an extra collar and I've not seen one like that anywhere.

Hi Karl - is it that your car has a 5mm thread sticking out of the roof?

There's this one

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GONUC22?psc=1

It looks like if you don't fit any of the threads, it should take a thread from the roof (but I can't confirm what size!). However, there are several types to choose from, so hopefully one of them should fit.

Cheers

Hi Karl

I just made an adapter out of a rubber tap washer. It worked for me.

Kind Regards
Mike

That sounds like a good idea. Certainly opens up the choice of aerials.

Is the standard aerial on the T30 a bit rubbish?
Mine has never had great reception - but recently it's got a lot worse.
