Just fitted an Xtrons double din with dab, but now have to fathom out how to connect steering wheel controls to work. Basically have key1 and key2 wires coming from back of unit, so presume I can hardwire from these wires up to swc on steering wheel? The swc has 3 connections in the plastic plug, has anybody wired there swc up? Can you tell me which way it wires up? Or do I need a special adapter? Any advice would help.

Hi. Give incartec a bell. They are very helpful and supply numerous patch/connector leads. Here is a link to website. https://incartec.co.uk/

Cheers. Martyn.

Well I bought an adapter and patch lead, fitted it but still no swc. I hate electrics, I must be missing something, all connections plug in and connected key 1 and 2 but still nothing. Will prob have to pay somebody to sort it out. Has anybody fitted the adapters and is there anything other than connecting plugs that you have to do?
:frown:

You will probably need to go into the settings and tell the unit what the function for each switch is.

Did a quick search and found this.

Yes Ive read that before, and I tried to programme the swc but the headunit is not recognising the controls. I must be missing something, but does not seem to be plug and play. Thinking about hardwiring from back of headunit to swc itself and see if it will work. What a mess on.

You shouldn't need the adapter at all.
I fitted an xtrons unit and connected the swc wires directly to the key1/key2 wires (and the swc ground wire to ground on the unit.)

Then just needs programming in the settings

Which are the wires to connect too? I have key 1 and 2 from the headunit, where would they connect? Do you have any instructions?
Would be a big help.

Basically I have 3 wires leaving the swc switch and what I need to know is where I can intercept them to connect to headunit? Spent hours trying and searching online.

So, the SWC plug that went into the old head unit should have 3 wires on it.

This plug has nowhere to go in your new head unit so the 2 coloured wired need joining to Key1 and Key2 on the new head unit. The remaining black needs to go to a ground connection on the head unit, (this was labelled as such on my Xtrons unit, I'll attach a photo)

Just strip back some wire and twist and tape to test them for now
