Hi All - First post as I had a registration glitch, and eventually had to re-register with a different email. :!:
Great forum and I'm hoping you can shed some light on something please?

Bought my used T32 Tekna a couple of months ago and have been suffering with intermittent cutting out of the audio once or more every few journeys. I mainly use the USB with a small flash drive plugged in, but have noticed it on other sources too. The audio effectively mutes for about 30 seconds and then comes back on again. Changing the volume doesn't bring it back to life, but doing other stuff sometimes it does - or is that just coincidence...

Just recently I've been trialing it with the Settings>Traffic Messages on and off.
It seems like it DOESN'T have the cutting out issue if the messages are turned on, but as soon as I turn them off, it brings the problem back.

Is the cutout duration a 'false' muting of the audio, to support a traffic message that has been disabled elsewhere?
And do the messages come from the radio station last used, even if you're not listening to the radio source?
I ask this because I've noticed it has reduced a lot (and the message type is different lately, human vs computer voice!).

Thanks in advance, for any help.
Car going in for 1st service in 2 weeks, so may have to get them to check it out if it's a bug.

Hi Andrew
I tend to use the USB a fair bit as well, but don't have any cut out problems.
Don't know for sure how system gets the messages, but I get them from stations I never listen to & don't have programmed in, classic cm for instance.

Hi, I posted something similar in August - Radio cuts out in AM mode. It's still does it but I have no problem with DAB or FM. Your suggestion that it may be something to do with Traffic Announcements is a thought! My car won't go in for service until next April, so if you find a solution, please post it.

In the overall scheme of things, it's not important but it is irritating.

Bob

do you hear the traffic announcment,

if not, you may have the TA volume to "low" ( muted )

Thanks for the replies all, here's an update.

Yes I do hear the messages, when they're enabled, and get an option on the screen to cancel it and return to the music while it's in progress, which all works fine.
When they're disabled (explained further below) it just stays on the music display and I hear/see nothing - I don't think I've muted it elsewhere but it's a possibility I guess.

Ref the disable/enable, I even tried to RTFM but didn't learn a lot...
I notice there's a 'TA' touchscreen button on (presumably all) media displays that goes orange when enabled, which effectively does the same thing as turning it on/off 'permanently' the way I was, which was on the Setup button, then Traffic Messages, then the 2nd option Travel (or Traffic?) Announcements on/off.

@Bob yes I read your post ref AM before I posted this and didn't think it sounded the same, as yours was only on that band it would appear. Who knows tho.
Will update if I find anything, or resort to asking the dealer (I won't hold my breath on THAT one!).
Cheers,
Andrew

Andrew, thanks for your comments. I had to take my car into the dealers today, exactly 6 months after purchase due to the Malfunction Indicator Warning Light c0ming on. The Air Intake Temperature Sensor is faulty. However, I mentioned the radio cut out problem and they said that a software upgrade has been issued and they'll do it when they replace the sensor.

I suspect that your problem requires the same upgrade.

Bob

Thanks for the info Bob, I'll give them a ring about mine then, which is booked in for next weekend. Hope your other work goes ok, sounds like you have a good dealer there.
Cheers,
Andrew
