I had this problem until I changed the Manual gear box oil for Redline MT90 75W90 GL-4 and now the shift works smoothly through the syncro mesh. I can recommend this oil as it's been in my X-Trail for the last 3 Years and if you decide to change the oil you have to replace the drain plug Gaskets they should not to be reused and the
Part No is:11026-4N200 two required.

Jack up front N/S and put an axle stand under, then you'll need to remove the inner plastic cover shield to get at the filler plug and it would beneficial to get a (Draper Oil Suction Gun Hand Pump Syringe Gearbox & Diff) for refilling.
Make sure vehicle is level when you refill.
