Hi Rappy - what's the best wax? I know it's subjective and everyone will have their own favourites but in your professional opinion?

Cheers

Its a very very subjective question

I will try and keep things simple. Some waxes advertised as waxes are in fact sealants. It really depends on what you want achieve.

A long durable shine & crisp. Or a nice warm glow. But you can top waxes with sealants & vice versa.

Tell me what you want it to do. Then we can go from there. I would start with clay, polish, seal & wax. To get the deepest shine. Prep is 99% of detailing waxing or using sealants is the easy bit

Hi Rappy, thanks for that. I guess, I'm after protecting the paintwork first of all, then a deep shine - I don't suppose there"s a single product that would do most of what I"m after?

Yes Megs do a all in one AIO. And a black wax that is all in one.

Clay bar should be your first choice. Then compound, polish, seal & wax. Or finish with an all in one

Just ordered some Megs Dark Wax - all I need now is some decent weather and for the family to leave me to detail the car!

I'll let you know how I get on :gathering:

Thanks again

Hi guys - here's a few pics

After a wash and chamois, but no wax

Now after a wax (but no clay bar)

and a wee glimpse of the car overall!

I'll probably get a clay bar next and spend the day on it, but I was just happy to get the chance to wash off all the road salt, and put on a 'seal' before the bad weather returns!

Thanks Rappy for your advice

C'mon folks - anyone else got the bucket and sponge out with the lull in the rain?!

Cheers

Looking good Bloggsy   .

What wax did you go with in the end?.

Claybar will make the wax bond a lot better inc, giving better protection. You are simply adding wax to a rough surface vs a smooth clayed surface.

Always use a clay prior to using a wax.

I would of simply used a spray wax for now. Until you can dedicate an extra 2 hrs to clay & seal.
