I've seen a car being cleaned with a claybar on TV and checked Amazon and found they sell it in UK. The results look amazing - has anyone tried this?

Cheers

I used to clay my Saab with blue tac, same sort of thing and much cheaper, works really well. I saw it recommended on one of the detailers forum.

I don't do anything fancy, but i can also endorse Collinite 845, its far better than another Carnuba wax I use.

I have 2 coats on my alloys and it lasts for months...making it very easy to clean brake dust off!

Good call, Ken

I was going to give the Xy's paintwork 2 coats of Colli 476s to ready it for winter ( I gave my dad's silver Twingo a couple of coats of 476s and it looks amazing, great depth of shine with great water beading ) but I have a unused pot of AG HD Wax lying around somewhere, so I'm going to give that a try this winter. With the right prep I'm hoping 2 coats of HD Wax will give 6 months protection, pretty similar to the Colli.

Wash: meguiars nxt generation car wash.
I've been using meguiars' mf washmitt, but recently i've been trying a new kind of sponge that's been said to be better than both mf and lambs wool.

HD dirt and grime removal: meguiars clay bar lubed with soapy water.

Paint cleaner: meguiars deep crystal paint cleaner with hard pads on DA machine.

Polish: so far i've used autoglym super resin polish, but i'm not sure i'm satisfied with the result. Think i'll try some kind of meguiars polish next.

Wax: meguiars tech wax II.

Plastic: meguiars gold class trim detailer.

Clear plastic: meguiars plastX clear plastic polish

Chrome: autosol. (Allso works wonders on severely messed up clear plastic)

Hello norse,

You seem to be happy with the Meguiars products.

You do however mention the Autoglym Super Resin Polish, I have used this for many years, if you found this to your liking I can highly recommend the Autoglym High Defination Wax. It is quite expensive, and I use the Autoglym HD Cleaner first, but I have been very happy with the finish and the way it sheds water. This year Iused the Autoglym Clay Bar treatment before applying the HD Wax...

I also use Autoglym Aquawax every two or three washes to top up the shine between waxes. I buy this in the 5litre container as Autoglym Express Wax - it works out cheaper than the 500ml Aquawax.

Best wishes, John

Hello Bloggsy,

I used the Autoglym Clay Bar system earlier this year, and I was very pleased with the way it removed the surface debris.

The kit comes with the lubricant and cloths and includes a small bottle of their super resin polish. I then finished my car with the Autoglym HD Wax. When you use the clay bar it gives the paintwork that "new car" feel.

This may be worth a try before you apply your next coat of polish/wax, if you want to keep your X-Trail looking good.

Best wishes, John
