My new (to me) X Trail has some quite deep scratches/gouges on the nearside...I may in time do something more permanent with them, but for now I thought I'd try to improve the look by using some blue carbon fibre vinyl and a strip of silver 5mm pin stripe.
The "Xt" graphic was made up of some odds and ends I'd got lying around and hides a very slight dent on the off side. (so naturally I had to make another one for the nearside. )
It won't be everyone's cup of tea...but at least I can't now actually SEE the imperfections..

I have to say, it looks rather good - and this is an area of the wagon that is soooo suceptible to marking. Nice one!!

Here's a pic of the "Xt" graphic I made up...it's two silver "V's" put together..(one inverted of course) and a strip of red pin stripe...at least no-one else will have one exactly the same..LOL

Just came across this post as I have similar issues with my bumper corners. May well do the same

As an aside I was also looking at the bonnet protectors and boot lip protectors but being the tight a%#e that I am was not prepared to pay the prices. So, on a similar vain I used the carbon fibre vinyl.

Probably not everyone's cup of tea but it does protect the places that need it and is very cheap to replace. To do front and rear cost me less than £7 and I still have enough left to try your idea on the corners.

Great job, Milton...both front and back look very good. I think your front one is a big improvement over the big, bulky plastic ones.

The only advantage the plastic ones have is that they do deflect the air and some stones above the roof line.

I've just changed my bumper corner protectors...bought some of the new "dry glue" carbon fibre vinyl..which you can (allegedly) peel off and re-stick if you need/want to.
I've gone for a darker metallic blue that changes into a more purple-y colour depending on how the light hits it.
I haven't changed the shape(s) of the vinyl or the positioning....just the colour.
..and like you (tight a*se..LOL) I made up my own rear bumper protection strip from some sill protector I already had.!!

A bumper is to bump. Otherwise it was not called bumper. And that's where it's made for. So, I do nothing about scratches on em...

I like that Milton, I think it's the answer to a little problem I have!

Back in his day my father had a white Cortina for a number of years towards the end of his & the cars life the front wings started to rust out & he covered them with white "Sticky back plastic" it passed a couple of MOTs before he had to give up driving.

(I'm trying to catch up on all the threads I've missed over the past couple of months)
