I've had my xtrail for around 3 months now.
I thought it needed something to spruce it up a bit so here's a few pics of the mods I've made in the last few weeks....

Firstly I removed the mud flaps as I prefer the look without them.
New wheels & tyres - 16" Black steel modular wheels on 225/70/16 BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A's
Thule Aero bars and foot pack with 3 x Thule ProRide 591's for my biking trips.
Chrome Mirror Caps
Plus Pioneer AVH-X3500DAB double din touchscreen head unit.

Really happy with it so far, considering some side steps to aid with loading bikes on the roof, plus a rear lower bumper guard (the silver one that surrounds the 2 lower lights in the rear bumper.
May even fit a rear view camera to plug into the new head unit.

Hope you guys like it........
(please excuse the quality of the images they are from my phone)

Thanks guys, really pleased with how they look. It even seems to drive better with them on.
The tyres are a stronger build so feel more solid.
Plus the offset is less so they stick out from the arches a little more giving it a wider stance than the original wheels.

I'm actually on the lookout for some centre caps to cover the centre spindle.
The wheels are a jeep fitment, same pcd but slightly bigger centre bore size so may have to source some from the US.

Hi McMillan

Well what you have done to your xtrail is certainly different and I am sure will generate an interesting set of responses and opinions.

In answer to your comment "hope you guys like it", I guess that depends on what i am liking it for.

From your brief description I summise that you enjoy cycling and possibly mountain biking in which case it is highly likely you will regularly go off road to get to your favourite places, hence the roof bars and off road tyres. The only thing I would say here is you may miss your mudflaps/as those tyres will throw some serious grit up the sides.

Like the mirror covers, you will need them if you go off road.

Good choice on a new head unit.

However.

If you are only ever going to take it down a gravel track and the majority of use is on tarmac then you may find the Tyre choice works/against you in relation to noise and grip.

In my humble opinion
Like it for off road
Not if for predominantly tarmac.

Thanks for posting up something different.
Best regards
Milton

Owwww.... there is still a mud flap underneath the car on the second pic!!

But, remove the mudflaps keep you cleaning the sides of the car often....

But indeed: These are the first (after market) wheels I like. But, IMHO these are normal steel, no alloy?

Looking good - but I'm surprised you removed the mud flaps.

I always insist on having mud flaps on every vehicle I have.

The front flaps protect the side of the vehicle from tar and stones and the rear ones minimise the throwback of dirt onto the rear window and help protect any following vehicle from stone damage by stones thrown up by your wheels.

I started insisting on mud flaps after I noticed all the damage caused on a vehicle without having them - this was a company car many years ago, and the side damage particularly was quite bad - especially sticky tar deposits that were very difficult to remove. Since having mud flaps I don't get any of this sort of damage.
