A post I read today got me all nostalgic and thinking of my tinkering time under the bonnet when I was a wee lad. So just wondered what cars we've all owned from first to our XT's?

2 MK1 Escorts 1.3 and 1.6 or 1300 and 1600 as we said back then (both went like stink)
MK2 Escort 2.0 (tried to convert to an RS2000 nose-cone... a proper shambles  )
Triumph Dolomite 1.8 I think :-? (given to me by a neighbour... never quite ran properly)
Fiat Mirafiori 2.0 twin cam (a rapid rust bucket)
Austin Princess 2.2 (proper rust bucket)
Triumph Stag 2.5 (both front wings smashed in trying to go through width restricting concrete bollards  )
BMW 528i (Old T reg, floated down the road like a Roller)
Vauxhall Royale 2.8 (plush velvet interior in electric blue... we'll say no more  )
MK3 Escort 1.4 (tin can but it could shift)
Vauxhall Cavalier MK2 1.6 (was a general A to B car... never looked after it but it always seemed to motor on without any real fuss)
Fiat Panda 1.0 (Bought from a neighbour for £100 who had it sitting in the garden under a taup for 2 years, non-runner, spent about £150, got it running and sold it for £600... easy money  )
Peugeot 405 1.6 (hated this car... had it about 2 months and sold part ex'd it for:)
Ford Orion 1.6 (hot a bad little runner... always had trouble with the electric windows)
Renault Laguna 2.0 (Joke of a car, was only 3 years old when I bought it... never failed to fail on numerous things)
Volvo 740 saloon (Incredibly quick car, 2.5, straight 5, 20 valve, road eater, great car, reluctantly sold when we moved to Spain for 5 years)
(In Spain) Had a Peugeot 206, 2.0 diesel (completely gutless pile of s**t, 4 yrs old, no turbo)
(In Spain) Fiat Familia 2.0 diesel (not a bad little runabout, until it blew a gasket and had to get the warped head skimmed... they had to take so much off, that it pinked like a bu**er after, sold it to a car salesman for peanuts as we were coming back to the UK)
(Back in the UK) Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 estate (nice car, drove well but always banged my head on the roof getting in and out :headbang: )
And now my XT... which I have to say has been the best car I have EVER owned. She's far from the newest or most expensive (****** Laguna :x ) but I love, love, love her

Car:: Xtrail T30
Model: Columbia
Year/Plate: 2006
Colour: Aruba Blue
Mods: Tow Bar, LED interior lights, LED number plate lights, Sunroof Wind Deflector, Running Boards, Air horns, Spot Lights, Tinted Windows, Front & Rear parking cameras, extra led reversing lights and more to come :-) Martin.
I started of with a 1964 Morris 1000 which I bought for £70 and kept for about 6 years.
Then I had a 1971 Mk 1 Escort Estate which I put a Mk3 Cortina 1600 engine into (lot of hassle changing the sump etc), made it look like an RS in the end.
Next was one of my favourites, a 1977 Mk 2 two litre Capri Ghia, great car.
Worst car ever was a Ford Orion, didn't keep it long.
A 2 litre Sierra Estate next, which was very good and used for towing whilst my new Wife had a 1970 Mk1 LHD 4 door Escort from Italy  which cost 50 quid and we ran for about 4 years until it rotted and was scrapped.
When the Sierra was written off in an accident (not my fault) my next tow car was a Mk1 1.8 Focus Estate which was another great car.
Then when I heard a friend was selling their X-trail the Focus was sold (and has since been written off) and the XT was purchased has to be the best tow car up to date.
Mrs. Pubcrawler has gone on to have a brand new Mk 1 Focus Saloon, A new Renault Laguna and now a 1.9 Golf Mk 5.
So as you can see not that many cars over the years, we also own a Austin Healey Sprite Mk4, A Westfield (which is still for Sale) and a 1965 Hillman Imp.

Hmm, I'll try to get this in cronological order;

Vauxhall Viva Magnum 2.2l ("gold" paint - proof that you can't polish a turd!)

Ford Cortina Estate (the passion wagon)

Triumph Spitfire (with a 1725 lump bunged in when I siezed the original)

Triumph Spitfire GT6

Sunbeam Alpine (X 2)

TR4 - had a couple of them

Dutton kit car - looked like a Lotus 7, built for hill sprints and went like poo from agoose but topped out at 90mph.

Rover TC200

Rover 3.5 P5 Coupe (with a home done roof chop)

Daff 650 (please forget I even mentioned that one)

Rover 3.5 & 2.6 SDI

Capri 2.8 (with a 3.6l V8 chucked in for a bit more fun)

Porsche 944

Audi 80 Sport

Daimler Soverign

Ford Granada Cosworth

Toyota MR2 (185bhp Raw Engineering lump - frantic fun)

Toyota Celica GT4 ST185 (nicely tuned to around 300bhp)

Toyota Supra (stupidly tuned to the point of being almost undrivable but soooo quick)

Toyota Aristo (Lexus GS300 with a Supra TT lump as standard)

VW Passat (a real let-down but free after the Aristo whent pop)

Jaguar S-Type (lovely car)

Nissan X Trail 2.2 DCI - the most practical and easy to drive car to date :)

Probably missed a few but not a bad list for 35 years of motoring - and doesn't include the numerous motorbikes I used to ride!

I've always been one for the "niche" oddballs myself! What are the "rules" here, by the way - are company cars allowed, or just cars you've actually owned?

If it's the latter:

Reliant Rebel
Bond Bug (fancied something a bit sportier!)
Citroen D Super 5
Citroen DS 21 (Pallas, no less!)
Citroen CX GTI
Reliant Scimitar SE5a
Landrover LWB Series III 2 1/4 petrol (eek!) with canvas top
Citroen BX 1.9 petrol
Citroen CX GTI
Alfa 164
Alfa 164
Alfa 164
Alfa 164

If it's the former, then "as above" plus:

TVR S2
TVR 390 SE
Peugot 807 (lots)
Peugeot 307
Ssangyong Odious (Sorry "Rodius")
Kia Sedona
VW Sharan
Peugeot 5008
SEAT Alhambra.

(X-TRail is the wife's)!

Austin Maxi - 5 speed box and hydro-pneumatic suspension - brilliant!
Toyota Corolla Estate - Parents car, vile mustard colour...learned to drive in this.
Fiat 128 3P - Was bought this for my 21st, first car - 1978 vintage - GoFaster stripes and everything!
Fiat Uno Turbo iE - Boy Racing days - the 'alternative Renault 5 Turbo'.
Citroen BX 16V - chipped to 180bhp - fast and comfortable for its day.
Citroen BX TZD Estate - Veteran of many a 'booze cruise' - loved that self-levelling suspension!
Fiat Cinquecento Sporting <- ****! A real mistake...
Citroen ZX TD Aura - Nice car, but head blew.
Fiat Panda 45S (Mk1) - mechanically fine, bodywork - GONE!
Nissan Micra DX - bought for £300, driven for 6m, sold for £400!
Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 DTi - Dutch import, badged as Opel.
Smart City Coupe Cdi (Import, LHD) - Great fun & 80 mpg...
Toyota Previa (Mk2) D-4D - Cavernous load lugger and long distance cruiser - but didn't need 7 seats enough...
MINI Cooper D Clubman - Nice drive, but too expensive for what it is.
Fiat Panda Multijet (Mk2) - Daily commute.
Exxy - Wife's / Family 'lugger'.

Some variety there...

Yep - always had a lot of time for CXs and BXs in their day - sadly, they (Citroen) appear to have just dumbed down to standard boring boxes (with trademark dodgy French electrics....) nowadays...

There'd always be space for a DS in my Lottery Dream Garage!

Ooooh, had a Cortina MK4 1600 too, forgot about that one... bought for £80 from a mate at work - non runner as it needed a new clutch. Fitted clutch and sold to another mate for £300

Great cars people and some real oddballs to boot (Bond Bug  )... keep 'em coming ;-)
