Obviously, you can throw the book out when you are talking individual examples of models. When it comes to Freelanders here they were probably outsold 20 to 1 by the X trail in Canada for those years, so there were a lot less, to begin with. Canada also did not get the diesel x trails, or the 2.0 only the 2.5 version T30s were sold here.

Anyway, the important thing is you got a good Freelander or so we will hope. Happy to report no rear strut tower rusting on mine. I replaced the rear struts two weeks ago and there was only some very minor surface rust where the top mount fits inside the wheel well. So I took a few minutes and steel brushed and through a coat of Tremclad rust paint on the few spots for some prevention. Will say that in the 11 years I have owned it I have tended to power spray the wheel wells every couple of months to clean out salt, grime, and dirt.

Well, that went well!

****** Freelander got written off this evening too!

Maybe me and Mrs. A just aren't meant to have cars?! Someone up there really doesn't like me! I'd bust my backside on that damned Landy this last few weeks too - and I was just starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel!

Sadly, just taking the wee lad to an after-school event this evening, a big artic that had got lost on the winding narrow roads round here, carrying a very large steel fabrication that overhung its extended trailer by a few feet either side, managed to rip the side out of it whilst trying to squeeze past. It's not a valuable car. Once he'd burst the driver's front wing, it was pretty obvious it was going to be a write-off. As it was, he then carried on past and took out the driver's door, rear offside passenger door and the offside quarter panel and rear bumper. Nobody hurt though, all this happened at less than walking pace.

Life sucks... :headbang:
