After two X-Trails (T30, 2004-2013 and T31, 2013-2020) I've jumped ship and just p/x'd for a Skoda Kodiaq Scout.

I have to say that the T30 was more reliable. Apart from the usual turbo issue and a seized brake caliper - both fixed under warranty - it was pretty-much faultless.
The T31, well not so much. The Connect1 satnav failed two days before the warranty expired; that would have been very expensive to replace so I dodged a bullet there. Two years ago the AC compressor died £800), and just recently poor starting with an engine management warning was diagnosed as a fuel-pressure problem. That cost about the same for a new rail and sensors, and I'm not convinced that fully fixed it.

I never even considered a T32.

Bye everyone!

Hope the Skoda gives you good service Nimby, Skoda do have a good reputation these days .

I also had an air-con compressor go on my X Trail, but a local garage fitted a new one for me for £580. I never use main dealers and our village garage has a fantastic reputation in the local area. A family business and they've been there for many years.

I must admit I'm not keen on the T32 either. It may well be a good car, but to me it's not an X Trail, just another SUV clone. Could be anything until you look at the name on the back. The T30 and T31 were much more distinctive.

All the best,
Colin
