Hi

Can anybody shed any light on whether the odometer can be changed from miles to km and how this can be done?
I have a model with Sat Nav that can change to KM (english) but not sure if this changes odometer etc?
Thanks in anticipation for any guidance.

I gather that your T31 is not a UK car. If it was a UK car, the speedo markings would be in mph and kph with the trip in miles. EU regulations require all vehicles to be marked with at least kph, the UK has an exemption to use mph but kph still has to be there. On European spec cars they tend only to have kph.

Otherwise your most probably best looking for a used instrument cluster from a breakers and then get someone to re-programme the mileage.

The cheapest way is not to change it and let it record in km. If the speedo only gives kph then get a digital speedo app on your phone and use that in the mph setting. I do this on my T30 as the speedo reads about 10% higher than the actual speed and I can change from mph to kph or even knots/hour if you want to go nautical.

I think the op is asking to change existing miles on trip recorder to kilometres; not the other way round.

Then why change the odometer from miles to km as this would result in a higher recorded figure which is likely to lessen the value of the car?

If what you want to do is have a speed readout then I tend to use a digital speedo app on my phone.

Think the Op needs to tell us why they want to change it unless moving from Uk to Ireland???? That would make sense.

Hi

Thanks for your replies.

To avoid confusion, the car is a uk car. My question is on the trip computer, can the odometer be changed to read KM as well as MILES?
This was possible on my previous VW. Settings were available to display KM if you wanted to etc.

The reason for my question is that according to the MOT history the car has gone BACKWARDS in recorded mileage once around 30K and again at around 110k.

So my enquiry is simply could the odometer have been reading KM and not MILES. My neighbour with a suzuki vitara and the french based engine and trip computer has had this happen on a previous MOT when odometer was reading KM by mistake.

Thank you for your assistance.
