Hi Malcolm. Glad to hear your motor works.

Run your wipers. Turn off and allow to park. Rotary arm on motor should be perfectly in line with wiper linkage at this point. I expect this will be your issue. Motor should not pull wipers down at all when they start up. Remove rotary arm from motor and adjust position on spindle to rectify this.

Colin

Thanks for that. I knew I was close, but not close enough. I'll give it another go when it stop raining. At least i have wipers now.
Malcolm.

Should have looked at the workshop manual properly. So this is how the motor parked and linkages should look. The arm that attached to the motor is directly under the linkage as show.

Yes, and so perfectly in line. On some vehicles, the rotary arm will be at maximum extension when parked, but will still be in a straight line with the linkage.

Assume the contacts in the plug are free from corrosion?

One last thing, if you remove the plastic housing from the motor you will see that water can also enter the main body of the motor at least it had on mine; if you remove the main motor housing and make sure that all the electric gubbins are all dry too. I'm grasping at straws here really.

Thanks John, yeah did all that, decided to take everything apart again to remove the new repair part as if im taking it to a garage for a new motor (warranty) I didnt want them to have the new part. I replaced it with the old part and put everything back together again. In proper Victor Meldrew style, I don't believe it!!!!! It now works as normal!!! The wiper stalk actually controls the wipers again!!!

Makes me feel cold just looking at that picture! I rush to put my thermals on when I see the temperature dropping towards +10 degrees!

No wonder the temperature gauge hasn't moved!
