Avoid reversing with the van if at all possible, very arduous on the clutch / dual mass flywheel. Reverse gear is too high. Reversing up hill or rough ground is particularly deadly.

I always use the motor mover instead.

If you dont have a motor mover fitted to the van and have to reverse into the pitch tell your other half to stand on the inside of the van so you can see them giving you directions. Amazing how many stand on the outside waving their arms about and shouting and the driver isn't moving because he/she cant see them. Usually ends in an argument. Not a good way to start a holiday. Erecting awnings causes arguments too. The nickname for awnings is divorce in a bag. Oh the joys of caravaning.
