Hi Umbongo,scottie
I have got 2008 x trail and have bought a new swift caravan which has LED lights , and in the brochure it says certain vehicles may require a secondary fuse box when towing models
fitted with LED road lighting,so would my x trail be ok or will I have to have a secondary box fitted.
regards

you can wire to the lighting direct,

but if the trailer has a fault, it can blow your rear lights,
and the fuses are under the bonnet and hard to get to if dark,

we always use a TEB7AS,

Its not a secondary fuse box that is needed. If you Xtrail had a buzzer or indicator light that worked before if may not with LED trailer lights. Your Swift dealer will have a selection of VLM boxes to suit all cars & have to be fitted to the Caravan. As a Swift dealer myself, i have the test equipment & boxes in stock.

as said, depends on wether the indicators are LED or 21w bulb.

LED sidelights will cause no problem, its just the indicators,

T31 have LED tail and stop lights, but the indicators are still bulbs,

Hi Truck Driver & Paul Wyatt,

I,ve bought a new swift but i won,t get it until early next year and people on forums said they were having light issues (LED) when collecting new caravans, they had no lights when connecting the caravan. I appreciate both your comments and take it all on board and keep you informed what happens next.
Thank you

Hi All. As a swift caravan has all LED lights the car may not recognize that a caravan is connected as LEDs don't draw much current. You Swift dealer will have a test rig so you can sort out any problems now & not have to wait until you collect the new caravan. (Then the dealer can order & pre-fit an extra VLM box if required)
