Xtrail 2.2dci 55 plate.

I have been towing with my xtrail since 2010, always checking the lights a few days before setting of, however never checking the reversing lights, until our trip at the end of June, and they wouldn't work. On checking the 12s socket terminal No 1 (yellow) was identified and connected correctly, however when I checked in the boot the yellow cable had been cut off level with the end of the grey outer insulation. I then looked at the back of the light cluster and found the reversing light connected with Green (with white stripe) and black. I can not find Green with white Stripe cable in the boot harness, Can you please help.

I understand that reversing lights are not mandatory for vans.

My tow-bar was installed by the local Nissan agents whom I purchased the vehicle from.

After trawling through the forum I have actually found some information that helped to resolve my query. On my 55 plate Xtrail the colour code for the reversing lights is - Yellow/green.

Source of info - from previous message on this forum

Hoping this address is ok to display.

you have 2 x 7 pins fitted ?

1 yellow is left flasher, on the 12n
you are looking at the second 12s socket

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=towin ... 0G_M1jM%3A

reversing lights are on the 12s socket, or on the 13 pin if they are fitted

Thank you, I knew what the colours and pin designations were of the 12 s socket, my problem was that I couldn't identify which 'vehicle loom' cable to join the Yellow cable to. But as you will see in my last post I have found the target cable, being Yellow with Green stripe. Now resolved and working fine.
Thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my post.

if the trailer you are towing have good electrics, your own, then just teeing in the wiring is OK,

if you are towing unknown electrics, would recommend a relay like this,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Way-Bypass-Rel ... B00OBX0DKO

reason is if a fuse blows its a major job finding these,
dark road with blown side lights is not good,

the relay safeguards the car fuses and wiring,
