Hi,

I'm brand new to owning an X Trail and to the site, so hello to all who read this.

I have just bought a 2012 X trail (with Sat-Nav, Radio and iPod connectivity) and want to put on a new battery. My question is if I disconnect and change the battery will I need a code to get the radio or sat-nav working. The reason I am asking this is that there is no mention of a code being needed if the power is interrupted in the handbook and no code has been supplied.

I phoned my local Nissan dealer and all they could suggest that they take the radio out to have a look!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

when fitting the battery, don't jiggle the connector,
fit it firm and dont let it spark,

remove the ground terminal first and last,

Good advice from Truck Driver.

Your X-Trail will be a T31, and the radio will be coded. With the T30 you can change the battery without the need of the code - providing you follow the correct procedure - and this should also apply to the T31. You will have to reset the radio presets. Have a look at these posts on the T30, these should be of some help, also the links on the thread will take you to a similar thread on the T31...

The simplest way to do it with no worrying about whether the radio is coded or not, it to connect up a 12 volt power supply. Garages do it all the time.
