I have a 2007 T31 with 6 Cd changeover, sat nav, reversing cameras, lovely gadgets but my radio signal is terrible except for Radio 1 and 2.
Any ideas, I have cleaned up the external Arial and even swapped aerial etc..

The wife's got a little Corsa and keeps rubbing it in how her radio picks up all the local stations no problem, now that's irritating lol

Hi,

Two likely issues;

The headunit is not grounded correctly. You could try a separate wire from the ground or metal body to the bare chassis and see if reception improves

There is an issue with the power running to the aerial. The aerial is an amplified unit.

Kind Regards
Eoin

Cheers mate thank you, that's a starting point, does the head unit come out easy?

Hi,

Pretty straight forward from what I understand. The centre console trim pops off from underneath, using a large flat blade, or prising tool. You then have access to the screws for the head unit. Depending on the headunit size, you may have to remove a cubby hole, prior to console removal

If you have a Google or search the T31 ICE section you should locate instructions and pics

Kind Regards
Eoin

Hi guys

Just been searching and came across your post. I've got the same problem on a T31 satnav 6 disk MP3. Radio reception seems not too bad when first starting out then as the journey progresses it gets worse.

I've taken out the head unit and checked the connections. All ok. Got 12v feed for aerial. Got a good ground. I'm guessing it might be the powered aerial but I can't get at it. Does anyone know how? I've got as far as dropping the interior light unit but that sits in a plastic frame which I then can't remove. Got a sunroof by the way so the motor for that may obscure the aerial fixing. Has anyone ever removed an aerial before from a T31 adventura?

Any help appreciated!

Have you got any accessories plugged into the power socket? Took me ages to figure out why my reception was so bad until one day I happened to pull out the phone charger (it was always plugged in) and the radio started to work ok. I've got a reversing camera with the monitor built into the rear view mirror and that knocks out the radio when I reverse too....

Good point. I'll check about the phone charger.

I do know that some cars deliberately quieten the radio when in reverse - can't remember if the X-Trail does it's not my car it's my wife's. My Passatt does.

I was wondering if anybody knows how to access the underside of the aerial on a T31 with powered sunroof?

Karl.
