I've replaced my reversing lights with Cree LED bulbs and while they look way brighter in fact they are useless to illuminate the area behind the car at night. Has any body else had the same issue ?? and what is my best option when replacing them again ??

Thanks in advance,

Ger.

Hi Ger,

How many lumens are they putting out?

I don't know off hand what the bulb fitament type is for the reversing light, I'd have to check the manual, but as a guideline, H3 12v 55watt Halogen puts out ~ 1450 lumen

Does the CREE LED have a lens on it? If not it won't give out any light especially in a reflective housing.

I have a CREE LED headlight for fishing at night with a lens and focusing ring and it gives out a serious amount of light, rated at 600 Lumens. Illumination of ~ 50M of wide focus down to a spot (2M circle)at ~ 100M

You can get others at 1600 Lumens http://www.amazon.com/SecurityIng%C2%AE ... B0098IJC7C

CREE need a lens and proper focusing.

Kind Regards,

Eoin

Hello Eoin,
It hasn't a lens just several leds and multi dereliction. I thought it would give better light in a reflective housing. I think they were meant to be 1800 lumes. I have crees fitted for my parking light and they seem fine. The bulb type are t10. Question now is what is the best reversing bulb for my Xtrail ?

Ger.

Hi Ger,

1800? That should be plenty. The multi directional chip type should also be correct for a reflective housing.

Do you have a link where you purchased?

Kind regards,

Eoin
