That is correct. No flashing via the OBD.

Personally , I would stay stock. Unless you have deep pockets.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Also, don't forget to navigate HERE to complete your profile so that members are best placed to assist you . . .

It can be done - just depends on what part of the world you're in.

CELTIC tuning is one place that does it.

Kind Regards,

Eoin

Hi, I had mine done by Caltic Tuning (0333 600 0669), and runs so sweat now. The ecu has to be taken out, which is a 5/10 minute job. They don't change the chip. They download the software, which is then modified, then reloaded. They keep the old map, so that it can be put back as it was. I don't understand the deep pockets, as it runs smoother and I would say it is better on fuel. One of the best £'s I've spent

Was so so tempted, but heard the bottom end of the 2.2's are not that strong & knowing my luck, the engine would pop, turbo would blow etc...

Dont want to turn my ultra reliable X-Trail into a money pit.

What bhp/ torque are you running?.

Hi,

As Rappy says, my biggest concern about a tune would be the con rod and turbo. The dCi is known to throw con rods in standard guise - adding more bhp and torque, the bearings could certainly be uprated first.

Also, cleaning the inlet manifold and injector and checking their operation is recommended before a tune.

DMF and clutch can also take a beating

Forum member ndrk has covered most of this in the performance section of the forum

Kind Regards

Eoin

An almera owner has over 200hp with the oem engine. I do not understan, why the conrod bolts on xtrail and navara snap. Same bolts on almera and primera hold on.
For good night sleep, i would order the ARP bolts and change them.

No idea what the specific issue in the X Trail is, but in the Navara, it's the bearings rather than the bolts
