Got this "ch ch ch" spund when i use the "motorbreak"/release gaspedal when running my x trail. I also got some oil in the sir filter house, which ive heard that can relate to the sound. Possible fix is fitting an oil catch can. Any experience? Sorry for my english :-)

Oil in the air filter housing is normal, I'm afraid. The oil separator isn't great so fitting an oil catch can would certainly help.

As for your sound, I too have experienced this off and on since I got my car (incidentally, I also got the same noise on my previous car - Chevrolet Captiva - which I never resolved). I don't think it's got anything to do with the amount of oily mist circulating around the air system - I actually thought it may be the clutch and it's signalling it's maybe on the way out.

My mate, who owns and runs a garage, has had a look for me and he can't trace the fault, either!

Sorry I can't be more help.

Cheers

Bloggsy

The sound is only there After i have accellerated and release the gaspedal without clutching/changing gear...and only when the engine is warm. Ill try to record the sound tomorrow, but its like a metal/air type "ch ch ch ch" sound:-/
