Dont need to use it tomorrow, but do need to a 40 mile round trip on Saturday - 90% on dual carriageway / motorway.

Am I safe to do this and then take it in the garage Monday (I'll drive gently)?
'Safe' as in 'not gonna wreck the engine' - yes, probably... 'Safe' as in, 'safe to drive in traffic with limited power to get out of trouble if needs be?' - I'd vote 'not'.

Personally, I would never choose to drive any real distance (other than to a garage) with the MIL on / in limp mode. :bigcry:

Hi guys

Garage (non-Nissan) thinks it is an EGR valve? Does that sound right?

Cheers

Hi guys

My garagae has been on to say Nissan have sent the wrong part. They rang Nissan and they said sorry, we should have sent you this bit for £175 (the original valve they sent was going to be £35).

On the off chance my garage then rang Renault and quoted the part number and they said, yes we have one in stock it costs £45.

What say you guys? 57 plate 2.0 DCi Sport - is that a Renault engine?

Cheers

Ray

That'll be the Renault/Nissan co-developed M9R block, yep.

Ok, XTrail back and running better than I think it ever has (I have only done 3k in it - it has 22k on the clock now) but maybe that is because the problem crept up over time and I didnt notice it until it went kaput.

Anyway, the part that was changed was a Boost Control Solenoid (according to the bill). £45.60 from Renault as opposed to £175 from Nissan.

I asked my garage if the BCS that they took off had a Nissan stamp on it, the owner showed me the part and that actually has a Renault badge on it!

Thanks for all the help here.

Cheers

Just for the record, would like to re-iterate woodsie observation. I had similar hesitation/lack of power problem. Got gradually worse, finally dropped it in to Nissan Dealer (not normal one I use), cos acceleration just not there. Fine if just cruising. They confirmed fuel filter problem, and pointed out that it is "optional" on every second service, but no-one at my dealer ever mentioned it!
