Hi

Has anyone had any joy with replacing one of these with ones from Ebay? My Airbag light is on and could be reset only to come on again after a day or so. Have checked all sockets under seats etc, can see any problems. So have removed original squib and tried cleaning up etc but no joy. After much searching got a replacement via ebay after checking the plugs pins & terminals were the same. Fitted it but I would say its actually worse than before and Air bag light will not reset at all now. Anyone with any experience or ideas? Have ordered another one from different seller and once arrives will see if that makes a difference.

Hi Ahto,

I have the nissan part no but cant find anything matching the white printed number on it being 7112SD, the one that arrived had no numbers at all but connections terminals & pins are all the same. I have ordered another, this has 9112SD on it.

Having taken the steering apart for the third time and checking the plugs sockets & harness I discovered. The OE unit plug sockets on the rear of the unit are a much tighter fit than the original and despite being careful and using some WD40, I managed to bend one of the pins which was then misaligned, hence why the airbag light would not reset. So advice for anyone else replacing their clock spring/squib, be extra careful with the plugs on the rear. Bearing in mind the cost of the OE unit ie £20 from flea bay as opposed to £200 plus from Nissan was only to be expected really. Anyway all ok now and hope this helps anyone replacing one in the future.

Hi Leafy,

To turn out the light you need to follow the turning the ignition on/off procedure which is readily available on the net and youtube. The only other thing I would stress is take the original off first to check number of leads, no of pins in sockets and the position of sockets to match it to the right one as there are a number of different ones all with the SAME part no. Mine on fleabay ranged from £15 to £50 for the same item. Also when removing the original do NOT move the squib centre and keep it straight as well as wheels on the car or when you remove the steering sensor screwed on the back which has to be screwed on to the new one, the sensor will not be able to tell where it is and this results in the dashboard lighting up like a xmas tree and the car applies the brakes as you attempt to drive it. Some on here say this needs Main dealer to calibrate it, however myself and at least one other thread I came across, simply took it all off again and re-fitted making sure the squib and wheels on car were both straight and it rectified itself. Lastly before atempting any of this do remember to DISCONNECT the BATTERY.

Good luck.
