With the change in the law in France I will need to disable this facility on my Connect HD system when I go on holiday. Any body got any ideas how it is done.

Thanks

Andrew

Not sure but I have a tomtom live system and the recent updates delete the French cameras automatically. How long before the health and safety brigade here try to follow suit ?

Also not sure if you are aware of this one..

Drinking and driving: Don't do it. Over 0.05 per cent ( compared to 0.08 in the UK) and you could face anything up to imprisonment. From July 1st 2012 it is compulsory to carry a breathalyser kit in the car. Two kits per car are advised. 15 euro fines for non-compliance will be levied from November 1st 2012.

The wonderful French driving experience is under attack methinks ! I think the stricter limit is great but having to carry a glovebox full of breath kits..... Daft. As Clarkson said on TG recently, if you carry one, use it and happily drive because you are under, then you would still be committing the offence of not having one in the car.... So you have to have two kits. Simples !

Is it a designated kit that is required?

I was thinking of getting one of THESE as it self-cleans and can be used again.

Have 2 satnav systems - one "old" one i.e. not updated so you get the camera warnings (on a smart phone) and an updated one for "Monsieur le Flic"

And a German/French translation book on the dash makes life simple in France - pretend your a German as they've never managed to stop THEM from charging accross their country

I have just come back from France and the speed cameras I saw seem to be preceeded by a huge sign warning you of speed cameras, much harder to miss than the warning on screen (with sound disabled). I didn't disable the speed camera warnings, though had I known the fine is up to 1,500 Euros I might have re-considered.

This takes me on to another point - Has anyone ever received a Penalty Notice after being flashed by a camera in France? People I know in France seem to think they don't bother with UK registered vehicles as it isn't cost efficient. I know when I was there last August I got flashed and heard no more. On my last trip I got flashed at least twice and again hope the mail box remains empty. On both occasions there was a previous sign warning of the camera but when running overnight for the ferry, auto-pilot seems to take over and by the time you have converted kph into mph it's too late :-? .
