Pinching this from another car forum...
Basically you just post any little bits (or big bits) you've done today all in one thread.
Might give other people ideas / reminders and it's something to talk about.

Not done much to mine today, tried to unblock passenger side washer jets (limited success, but will do for now...)
I also dip tested my coolant as I've no idea when it was last changed..
Saying good to -23'C so that'll do till I can get it changed.

Lastly I also found out why my doors weren't always locking, seams switch in remote is a little dodgy so ordered up a bag of replacement micro-switches, I see a little bit of fiddly soldering in my future..

So whats everyone else done recently ?

Changed fog light bulbs to cree led, much better. Changed all interior bulbs to led, finished fitting oil catch can. Then washed the old girl, she still looks good. 2007 Columbia in silver.

Went on 1000 mile road trip through wales up-to Peak district and some very dark roads. Took my old Ford Fiesta roof rack and modified them and mounted some lights to make the road easier to see. Very happy with the outcome.

Found that my 06 Columbia intercooler was leaking on the base of the core so my re-seal trick didn't cure the reason why it was leaking,it was smoking more than usual and power had been down for a while so loosing boost.

I fitted a new welded one today and then changed the oil for a semi -syn 5/30,then changed the fuel filter, bit of a pain to do the canister fuel filter but we got there in the end with it

I hear stories of some people struggling to bleed the canister filter so .........(If you want to bleed the filter just leave the outlet pipe off the filter when fitted and pump the primer a few times till fuel comes out the filter outlet ,stuck a bit of rag to catch the diesel spill, pop the pipe back on and pump a few more times till hard.),the ole Xtrail runs a lot better now.I gave the underneath a good looking over and found the middle exhaust joint leaking a bit so undid that and stuck some exhaust paste in on the gasket (Will have to change the front section soon though as looks grubby)Then gave the motor a wash and were all done

Leafy?

How did you clean your engine and what did you cover / areas to avoid. I really wanna clean my engine and the bay as I have some oil residue by the front of the catch can. Need to see if its the intercooler leaking as still original. Any advise much appreciated!

There was one on the S series forum on there too ;-) and one on POCUK... I think it is a great thread but could do with moving to a more general location as mine is a T31

Anyway, what have I done today? Well the fuel tank heat shield fell off recently as they do and I decided just to cut it off, but then found out that the fuel tank is plastic so had further thoughts... Today, I cut a strip off the old shield and fashioned it so that I could clamp it to the exhaust itself with two jubilee clips. Pretty easy job really and looks and feels OK ( until the clamps work loose and it starts rattling I suppose  )

Filled in an hour for me.

K ;-)

Yah, got the idea from PockUk & VectraC forums, lol..
You're probably right though about it being better somewhere else  ..

Anyway for today my 2nd key that I've been using (while waiting for new Microswitches to come to fix 1st one) stopped locking car as well..

Opened it up and found a part of the circuit track had lifted
Managed to bridge it with a bit of solder.. not my best/neatest work but for 10pm (after 13.5hr shift) I think it did alright.. lol
