Nightmare! :headbang:

How long did it take you to swap them this time?
All in all about 2 hours as was dark and a **** torch and I lost my best long 3"allen socket down back of engine :headbang:
Before I lost the long socket I managed to get the 2 allen bolts undone holding the SCV in but couldn't get my chubby fingers on them to pull them out  (Aint a lot of room) My daughter No2 came to the rescue and made it look so easy ,I was shocked at how easy a young pair of girls hand can make light work of delicate jobs. She took the bolts out and pulled the SCV out (I left the plug on as only needed to see if O ring was in the recess, which it wasn't )I gave her the spare O ring and she had it in place in seconds, then she pushed the SCV back in then stuck the bolts back in and did them up as much as she could with her fingers.

I found a short allen socket in the toolkit and it just about did the job (You need one about 3" long )The daughter put the ratchet in and tightened them up ....bless her.She can do the SCV on my Xtrail when it goes.I only take the intercooler off as find it can be done this way without taking any of the bulkhead plastic off.

I was surprised that the Xtrail ran well for 2 weeks without the O ring in the SCV ......strange that one is

Never mind done now and a lesson learnt

Brothers former shop called me for x-trail info.
2003 di with no start or salling when starting. Cam sesnor disconnected, then it is running.
Recommended them to change the upper cain only. The they did, the tensioner was 14mm extended. But still the problem was there. I found out that they changed the clutch. But the chank sensor is there and it can move around a bit. So i told them to play with the crank sensor and if that does not work, then do the Avocet mod to the cam sesor. Moving it towards to the radiator advances the sensor signal a bit.

I'll keep you informed how it goes.

Playing with the sensors was not helpful. Cam sensor unplugged, the engine started, but as soon as the sensor is connected, it stalled. He was making plans to change the bottom chain too, but I remembered that one Estonian owner had troubles with the vacuum pump chain spocket fixing pin.
He then removed the rocker cover and saw imidiently that something is wrong.

I sold him a 3mm carbide drillbit and found a 3mm bearing needle. The camshaft has some damage too. He tries to repair it and if it last, then a new camshaft is needed.
