Prevention of blown head gasket

I have had my car's head gasket leaking and still there is damage to the aluminium head to the extent that there is a small crack. There is no warning for low level of coolant in the radiator.
Are there more things one can do to prevent a leaking/blown head gasket from happening again than those listed below?

1. Regularly check cooling fluid not only in reservoir but also in radiator. When pressure is lost within the total cooling system the water will not be drawn from the reservoir. The temperature sensor may run dry and not indicate increase in temperature.
2. Check radiator fluid once a week.
3. Change cooling fluid at specified intervals.
4. Change with same colour antifreeze to prevent formation of crystals.
5. Ensure radiator efficiency when work was done to prevent air lock or insufficient fluid level.
6. When the aircon stops working (at stationary idling), immediately check fluid in radiator (not only in reservoir). When nothing is wrong with the aircon (preferably do not drive further), check for a leak in the cooling system. If none found, it may point the head gasket failure.
7. Check operation of the electrical fans.
8. Check operating temperature on the display more regular (which is fairly obvious).
9. Check oil at the dipstick and oil cap to see if a white sludge has started to form which will indicate coolant (water) in the oil. This will be too late and damage already done.

Can a sensor for low coolant level in the radiator be installed as a warning system?
